Teaching with Technology, Innovation, and Experience
Mrs. Pavelko's 4th Grade
Lions, tucans, jaguars, monkeys, OH MY! Yes, it's true, our classroom is turning in to a rain forest. While reading "The Great Kapok Tree", 4th grade will learn about the layers of the rainforest, its animals, and the importance of just one tree. Some activities planned will include a vocabulary game, sequence activities, and a board game called "Follow the Snake Game".
Immigration & International Day Project We're all going back to our roots and learning about our heritage and culture. 4th grade is preparing for a big presentation that will explain the immigration process during the late 1800s and early 1900s through Ellis Island. Once through Ellis Island, you will enter our International displays and presentations. Lookout for your PASSPORT. Date will be announced soon.

4th grade relaxes after the Terra Nova Writing Assessment and learns about the Pilgrims and Wampanoag Indians.
We took advantage of Scholastic's First Thanksgiving Unit. We went on a virtual field trip of the Pilgrim Village at Plimoth, visited a Wampanoag Homesite, and toured the Plimoth Plantation. We learned about the voyage on the Mayflower, the daily lives of the Pilgrims, and the first Thanksgiving feast.
We ended our day by making a toy a Pilgrim might have made and played with. We also played Nine Pins which is similar to bowling and made flowers from corn husks.
